Getting ready

The jury it still out.  I'm deciding how Christmas will feel without cold, snow...all of it.  Growing up in Colorado and Utah...then moving to Missouri, I've always had a cold Christmas.  Last year we spent Christmas day in Florida, but we celebrated our own Christmas a few days before.  Actually, jury just came in.  It's not the same.  It is still fun and exciting, people decorate their homes and everything does seem cheerier, but the whole feel is just different.  Boo.

It took me a bit longer to get our Christmas set up this year, but it's finally done.  To see the "pretty" finished pictures and more of the home decor stuff, I just did a post on our blog Fresh Poppy, so check it out :)

Here is some of our family decorating.  Little kids decorate trees so stinking cute.

I've been trying to keep the tradition (from my family) of a new ornament for the kids each year.  This year they chose stars.

Isn't that the best??  Like a million ornaments on one branch, everything on one side of the tree...and they couldn't be prouder :)

This year I also got them their own tree to have in their room.  They chose to decorate it blue, of course :)  Daddy was proud.  I've promised that they can sleep with the tree on for Christmas eve.

Merry Christmas!

Easter Weekend

Saturday.
The school had an Easter egg hunt at 9 am and then there was a community hunt at 10 am, so we hit both! Sawyer definitely knew what was up, but he'd grab a few eggs, then he'd put some in other people's baskets...it was very cute and fun! At the second hunt we had to wait for a siren to "go!", that was very hard for him to stand on the sidelines staring at the eggs.

Saturday night.
I set up the family room with LOADS of eggs, leftovers from the day and some I had bought, silly! We also got him a little fire station for matchbox cars, he loved that, he could drive them into garages and over a bridge, and a huge ball!
Sunday.
It was Stake Conference, so thankfully Sawyer got his nap that day! It was too cold outside, so we only took a couple of shots, but my mom made the boys the CUTEST matching outfits!! I will do a photo shoot to show off her work, this is the best pic we got. It is little matching white collared shirts with blue stripes and then matching blue trousers, AWE!

It's SO magical!

The thought of putting up Christmas is a lot more fun, and actually doing it kinda isn't :) But day after Thanksgiving, we got all the goods out and started the work! It was fun for Sawyer, he loves the lights and the balls on the tree. He takes them off at least once a day. He grabbed one of the balls that first night, and said, "ball!" as he threw it and broke it...he throws the nativity too, but luckily it isn't breakable! Here are some of the decorations. Can I tell you there is no way to take a good pic of a lit up Christmas tree? At least with my camera...oh well ;) The stockings I added our initials to, and I think it turned out pretty cute!It was a nice night, and now that we're our own little family, it's cute to see the traditions starting. We had holiday music on, but when we saw it was taking a lot longer than a few tunes, we watched Christmas Story and part of Christmas Vacation, my two favorites to watch every year. We had to end the night with cookies of course, and if you're wondering how to eat a cookie, Sawyer has a good little tutorial below. Cookie is his new favorite word, surprised? It sounds a little like this. "Cookie! Mo(more)? "
